Galactic Girl

Description

This Galactic Girl pattern will turn your doll into the heroine that she is in your famous movie. This pattern only requires a little bit of easy sewing and with a bottle of dye or a cup of coffee you can turn your already existing stash of fabrics into all the fabrics you need. Let your creativity go crazy when you create her staff or follow the provided instructions.

This pattern will give you instructions on how to sew the shirt and pants and how to create the rest of the items (sash, arm guard, arm wrap, staff, belt and belt bag). A complementing shoe pattern is available separately to complete her outfit. Let the adventures begin!!!

This PDF pattern is designed to fit 18″ dolls such as American Girl®.

Recommended Fabrics: cotton, linen and knit fabrics

Supplies Needed:

Supplies needed for Pants:
• 1/3 yard of beige lightweight linen or cotton/polyester fabric
Alternatively you can use white and dye it (use dye appropriate to fabric type)
• 11″ of 1/4″ wide elastic
• 9″ of 1/8″ wide elastic
• small safety pin

Supplies needed for Shirt:
• 1/4 yard of beige lightweight linen, cotton, polyester or knit fabric
Alternatively you can use white and dye it (use dye appropriate to fabric type)
• 6″ of 1/4″ wide hook and loop tape
• Optional fray-check
• Fabric paint or dye to make shirt look dirty (optional)

Supplies needed for Belt and Bag:
• 5/8″ x 14″ of brown vinyl
• 1/4″ x 1/2″ hook and loop tape (soft and rough side) for belt
• 6″ x 2″ of brown pleather fabric (or very thin vinyl)
• Super Glue (optional, can sew instead)
• Small piece of cotton twine
• Small piece of hook and loop tape (soft and rough side) for bag

Supplies needed for Sash:
• 6″ x 46″ wide cheesecloth, cotton gauze or lightweight linen

Supplies needed for Staff:
• 17″ long round dowel (1/4″ diameter)
• Masking tape or paper and glue
• Scraps of black vinyl or 3/8″ black ribbon
• (4) 3/8″ D-rings or paper clips bent to shape
• (2) jewelry closures (Lobster Clasps)
• (2) small jump rings
• 15″ of 3/8″ ribbed ribbon (either beige or dye a white one)
• Black acrylic paint
• Acrylic sealer, e.g. ModPodge (matte)
• Sandpaper to round ends of dowel
• 1/2″ strip of cotton fabric or similar about 30″ long
• Super glue or regular glue
• Optional fray-check

Supplies needed for Arm Wraps:
• (2) 1″ x 30″ of beige or white cotton fabric (if white use dye to get beige color)
• Optional fray-check

Supplies needed for Arm Guard:
• 2″ x 4″ of brown vinyl
• 1″ x 6″ of lighter brown vinyl (optional, can be same color as above)
• Super glue
